Insider knowledge
What you should know before you play
Take a buggy
Local guidance recommends a buggy for this course.
Wind to expect
Moderate (6/10). Wind is usually manageable but exposed holes become more demanding on breezy days.
After rain
Yes. The sandy desert terrain recovers quickly after rain.
Blind shots
A few. Elevated tee boxes and bunker complexes can obscure parts of the landing areas.
Signature hole: 18
Hole 18 is this course's signature hole.
Most scenic hole: 13
Hole 13 is this course's most scenic.
Holes to watch
Holes 2, 7, 13 and 18. Strategic bunkering punishes poor club selection more than inaccurate driving.
Practice facilities
Definitely. Spend extra time on the putting green because the greens are quick and feature subtle breaks.
Local tip
Don't automatically reach for the driver. Nicklaus designed the course to reward positioning rather than length. Missing on the correct side of the fairway often gives a much easier approach than simply hitting the ball as far as possible.
Local tip
El Valle feels very different from many resort courses because the housing is largely kept away from the holes, creating a peaceful, uninterrupted golf experience. If you're playing the Nicklaus Golf Trail, many golfers rank El Valle among the very best because of its natural desert setting and strategic design.
Local tip
No hotel on site — the resort is residential (villas/properties) rather than hotel-based.
Local tip
Busiest on Saturday mornings and during winter golf holiday periods.
Local tip
Walking is fine if you're reasonably fit, but the transitions between holes make it a long walk despite the flat terrain.
Local tip
Golfer feedback highlights superb conditioning, a strategic Nicklaus layout, striking desert scenery, and an excellent test of golf.
Local tip
Hole 13 (most scenic) offers elevated views across the desert valley with the Murcian mountains beyond.
Local tip
Hole 18 (signature hole) is a memorable finishing hole framed by dramatic bunkers and water.
